Percussionist, Bandleader and Teacher Jimmy Biala is a current Artist in Residence at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, the Chinatown Beacon Center and at Santa Clara University where he teaches Afro-Cuban and Brazilian percussion. Jimmy directs the SambAsia samba school, the Cuban music ensemble Con Alma and the Search 5 Project. He also is in demand with Bay Area music and performance ensembles, currently working as a member of Jon Jang and the Flying Dragon Company and various projects with Francis Wong, John Carlos Perea, Melody Takata and others.
