WITHIN THESE WALLS & DREAMS OF FLIGHT

Within These Walls and its sequel Dreams of Flight are site-responsive, immersive multimedia dance works by Lenora Lee Dance created for the Angel Island Immigration Station. Inspired by the history of 170,000 Chinese immigrants who were detained at the Station under the Chinese Exclusion Act, the performances transformed the island's Barracks and Hospital into spaces of remembrance using dance, film, music, and poetry to move audiences through a labyrinth of intimate environments within the building itself.
