Interdisciplinary Artist

jamil nasim is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores Black diasporic life, identity, and community, drawing from their family's ties to the Black Panthers and Black Arts Movement. Raised in North Carolina, nasim’s practice spans painting, filmmaking, and sound design, reexamining how Black people have been historically portrayed in art. Their exhibitions, Quiet As Kept and Now Ain’t Some Day Yet, have been featured at venues like the De Young Museum and Root Division. As an arts organizer and educator, nasim supports marginalized artists through programs and exhibitions, continuing to expand opportunities for BIPOC voices.
