About the Event

Over the past 18 months, AIR has worked with 7 incredible emerging interdisciplinary BIPOC artists in expanding their artistic practices through mentorship, community engagement, workshops, guest artist presentations, and grant writing support. With the fellowship coming to a close, come join us in witnessing their work and celebrating the next stages of their artistic journeys!

Program to be followed by community reception:

Raw, Black & Blue (excerpts)

// Shantré Pinkney (filmmaker, writer, photographer)

A multi-layered, interdisciplinary project and fictional love story told through the lens and journals of a photographer who finds her relationship with a crisis response leader strained by her own trauma.

Offerings

// Lynn Huang (dancer, choreographer, poet)

An intertwining of poetry, choreography, and movement exploring the depths of memory, language, family, and place. Poems shared will be from her first chap book of the same title.

Sounds of Solidarity

// Vida Kuang (muralist, social practice), Katie Quan (comic artist, social practice)

A unique call and response illustration performance using audio from local Bay Area resistance as part of the global movement for a free Palestine.

Respond | React

// Erika Oba (musician, composer), Scott Oshiro (musician, quantum computing), and Peekaboo (cellist, experimental performance)

Through a series of solo, group, and interactive / participatory pieces on woodwinds, strings, and percussion, community are invited to bring their own instruments and visual arts materials to participate.
